Assessing My Gear: Saucony Peregine 3.0

(This gear assessment reflects my impressions of the product mentioned, it will be continuously updated and it's main purpose is to help me in identifying the key characteristics that I enjoy in my outdoor equipment.) My first impression was: "This thing grips!" And it continued to grip for over 500 kms with about 10% of that being on mixed road. I mention that off the bat because it's a significant factor in the demise of the tread integrity. I imagine that if I were to only use it on the trail then it would have undoubtubly lasted longer. Toe Box is too narrow. I suffered a number of bruised toes from having limited space/protection in the front end. I like a little bit more than what this model was able to provide. Top fabric eventually began to rip due to in-shoe pressure of my foot. I suspect because the toe box is so narrow. Tucked my laces in the side. Comes with a small metal loop near the toe but the laces were so long that all this did was direct

Bruce Trail Caledon Section, Hockley Loop

On Sunday October 15th... Bruce Trail white section counting towards my end to end: from 3rd Line at Hockley Valley to the end of the Caledon section, on 3rd Line at Country Rd 8. I parked at the top of the Caledon section 17C, raining 75% of time, consistent wind, lots of downed leaves, slippery Started running around 6:30am with headlamp, kept it on until about 9am as the clouds kept the forest dark in spots Total run: 29.1 km in 3:06 for a average pace of 6:25/km The total Elevation gain was 727m I only saw 3 hikers, 4 MTBers the whole time, not surprisingly as the rain scares away the hikers and attracts MTBers as they think there's no hikers on a trail that is clearly marked "No Biking". Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Completion, 21k to the top

On Oct 9th, at 7am... 21.6 km from the John Muir Parking Lot to the Blantyre end of section spot. 21.6 km in 2:20:58 = 6:31 / km Total elevation gain = 252 Meters Started in the rain, very dark out still, clouds did not help. Used a headlamp, on and off for the first 1.5 hrs as there were quite a few of closed canopy areas.  Looking East towards the sunrise and the edge of the Craigleith corner of the escarpment Fresh leaf litter blown down over night made the trail difficult to follow as the forest floor was uniformly covered and no hikers had began to wear a path. Rained nearly the whole time. Lots of slippery rocks and fresh leaves.  Precise footing x knowing your traction x keeping your desired pace = These are really fun to run. Original plan was to do a there and back, but found a slightly quicker way via road, but I felt really good the whole time.  My nutrition was dead on, used Tailwind for the first time. I liked it. Will be using it again.
